Whitfield property sets new 2017 benchmark after fetching more than $2 million under the hammer

A PALATIAL Cairns property has eclipsed the $2 million mark in setting a new house sales yardstick for 2017.
Five years after it last changed hands, the five-bedroom manor at 13 Knott Ct sold at auction on Saturday for $2.025 million.

It is understood the stunning Whitfield property, built in 2005, was bought by a Cairns local.

Selling agent Tom Quaid, of Quaid Real Estate, said he was “exceptionally pleased” to see the high-end home sell under the hammer.

“We had spirited bidding … and a high-level of inquiry over the course of the (marketing) campaign,” he said.

“It’s good to see that there are buyers at this level of the market.

“It is certainly one of the best results we’ve seen at an auction for a long time.”
